Tree Planting:

A Comprehensive Understanding of Tree planting:
Tree planting is easier than you think. If you are reading this, start by applauding the trees for the air you are breathing, food and other resources provision, environmental benefits, and other multiple amazing services.
The process involves transplanting the tree seedlings of choice for reclaiming land, landscaping, or forestry. Planting only gets easy when you understand the right things to do. For an effective tree planting process, you need to understand the correct time to plant, the required steps and tips to take and any other relevant tree planting considerations.

When to start planting Trees:
If you have been curious enough, you will realize every day you pass by various places; people are planting trees. Is that the right thing to do? Well, the answer could be yes or no. If it is in tropical and non-tropical climate, every time if ideal provided you have water. Here in the U.S, things are different.

Spring seems like the right time. During this time, the environment is conducive for the development of leaves, stems, and the root. The growth allows plants to store enough food for summer as they get ready for winter.
Many tree-planting experts claim that fall planting is also ideal. However, you have to select the right trees. Once the plant a tree, roots develop easily, and they collect enough water and nutrients for the leaves. This makes it easy for trees to survive during winter.

Steps for Tree planting:

Planting a tree involves simple steps. They include:

  • Locate the particular planting space and do the preparation. Dig the wide hole and test the soil for drainage by pouring in water. Ensure the hole is 2 to 3 times bigger than the root ball.
  • Un-pot your tree. Make sure you do it fast and with a lot of care. Carefully check the root ball and incase of circling roots, fix by removing or straightening them.

  • Check the hole depth again. Set your tree inside and confirm how it fits. The tree collar needs to be at the soil level or little higher for mulching purposes.

  • Set your tree in the hole and straighten it. Putting your tree in a hurry may cause a poor orientation. Ensure it is straight. Spread the roots carefully and ensure they are in contact with new soil. Once you do that, fill the dirt.

  • Soak and mulch your tree. The first soak comes with many benefits. It moisturizes the soil and quenches the first thirst while in the hole. Watering at this level also ensures that soil settles well, while the roots get the required contact.

  • Offer follow up care. Ensure the soil is always moist but not waterlogged. Water logging will cause harm to the plant. Water once a week, or multiple times when windy or very hot.

Tips and Considerations for Effective Tree Planting
Experts argue that you need a few tips and considerations for effective tree planting. Some of them include:
  • The location. It matters a lot since trees have a varying preference for water, light and other survival resources.

  • Seasons or Timing. Planting trees during spring and fall is ideal. April and May work for most trees while others thrive well during September and October.

  • Keenly note the type of tree. Consider whether the trees are deciduous or evergreens. Deciduous trees are best for fall planting because they lose leaves during fall. Evergreens keep their leaves, and this means metabolism and losing water will continue. Such trees will hardly survive during falls.

  • Don’t ignore mulching. Mulching the newly planted trees keeps the weed away, moderates temperature, controls competition of nutrients and increases plant survival.

Planting trees at the right time ensures that they thrive without subjecting them to a lot of stress. Besides, you need to follow the above procedure for positive and satisfactory tree planting results.
